Privacy
The characters are meant to feel like they know you. That only works if you know exactly what they're allowed to know.
What we keep
- Your number, so the characters can reach you.
- What you and the characters say to each other.
- Facts you tell them about yourself, each one linked to the message it came from. You can see these, and delete them.
- A record of every permission you grant or revoke, with the words you were shown.
Messages pass through a language-model provider to write replies and to check them before they're sent. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card.
Permissions
Everything beyond the conversation comes from two things you choose to do. Installing the companion app on your Mac is the opt-in for what it reads, reduced to a short label on your own device before it's sent: never screenshots, text or names. Sharing your location with a friend in iMessage is the opt-in for location. Each is a separate switch, on once you've taken that step. Turning one off deletes what it sent, immediately.
- Unprompted messages on by default
- Characters may text you first. Never during quiet hours (23:00 to 07:00 your time), and only a few times a day.
- Profile on by default
- Short facts about you, built on your own computer by the companion app. Shown to you, replaced on each upload, deleted the moment you switch it off.
- Screen on by default
- A two-word label like "writing code" or "watching something". Never a screenshot, window title, URL or file.
- Who you talk to on by default
- A rough count, like "quiet day on messages". Never names, never message text.
- Rhythm on by default
- Whether you're "up late" or had "an early start". Free/busy at most, never events.
- Location on by default
- From sharing your location with a friend in iMessage: home, work, transit or out. Never coordinates or addresses. Stop sharing any time.
- Calls on by default
- Whether characters may FaceTime you. What you say on a call is transcribed and kept like a text.
The characters never learn where a hunch came from. They'll say "you seem tired", never how they know.
Video training
- We may use face video from your video calls with the characters to train our models. Only face video: never your voice or audio, your texts, transcripts, memories or anything else.
- We never recreate or synthesise anyone's face. Any face in something we generate is not a real person and must not be taken as one.
- Face video is biometric data. We use it only for training, keep it for up to 1 year, never sell or share it, and delete it when you turn this off or delete your account.
- Turning it off removes your video from future training runs. Models already trained aren't retrained.
- It's never needed to play, and saying no changes nothing else.
Where the law asks for a separate yes (the EU, EEA, UK, Switzerland and some US states, or when we can't tell where you are), it stays off until you tick a box. Elsewhere it's part of the signup terms. Either way you can switch it off here at any time.
Your controls
- Text STOP to pause every character and the companion app. CONTINUE resumes.
- Text UNSUBSCRIBE to stop every message for good. Texting can't undo it; turn messages back on below, after verifying your number.
- See what it remembers, download everything, or erase it all, below.
- Ask for a refund below, after verifying your number, if they never reached you or you've sent five messages or fewer.
- Unpairing the companion app deletes everything it ever sent. If its pairing has already lapsed, erasing your data below does.
- Switch video training on or off below, after verifying your number.
Erasing removes your number, messages, memory, schedule, permissions and any training video. One row survives: a one-way hash of your number and the payment record, so the same number can't play twice and we can keep honest books.
